President to US Deputy Secretary of State: Georgia never was & will never be pro-Russian

The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, discussed Georgian-American relations and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia with Uzra Zeya, the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America. The administration of the President of Georgia disseminates information about this.

At the meeting held in the Orbeliani Palace, the President of Georgia, while talking about the country’s European future, emphasized that Georgia has never been and will never be pro-Russian, the absolute majority of Georgian people choose the country’s European path.

The President of Georgia thanked the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America for her strong support for the country’s development in various fields for ten years since the day of Georgia’s independence.

The conversation touched on the upcoming parliamentary elections, and as the President of Georgia mentioned, there will be a full mobilization of the society, the non-governmental sector and the youth, and the Georgian people will once again confirm their European choice.

During the discussion of Georgian-American relations at the meeting, the conversation touched on the postponement of military exercises and its possible consequences.

“The importance of the ‘Georgian Charter’ was discussed, which is an action plan drawn up by the president to implement the recommendations of the European Union as soon as possible. The signatories of the charter took responsibility to fulfill their obligations, to return Georgia to the European path.

The Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America thanked the President of Georgia for leading the country’s European path and noted once again that her visit is a confirmation that deep partnership with the Georgian people is important for America and that the US will continue to support Georgia’s sovereignty.

She claimed that anti-democratic changes filled with considerable challenges of the Georgian Government have endangered the Euro-Atlantic path of the country, which expresses the will of the Georgian people”, – it is mentioned in the information distributed by the presidential administration.
