D.I.AA curtain is raised and lowered via a pulley system connected to a donkey that walks up and down a nearby laneway. D.I.A. is a playful musing upon an endless series of openings and closings referring to the collective experience of the artists as directors of an ARI as well as illustrating the relationship between beauty and labour, spectacle and work, ultimately involving the spectator in the creation of the spectacle. D.I.A was produced through a collaboration between Firstdraft directors Connie Anthes, Grace Archibald, Lionel Bawden, Debbie Pryor, Kate Scardifield, Georgie Meagher, Jessica Tyrrell and Dylan Quirk, on the invitation of MOP Projects. The project was developed through a Bundanon Trust residency and supported by the National Association for the Visual Arts.
